Can the Orange Train bring a cultural revolution in Pakistan?

Gujran, a distance of twenty seven kilometers. Millions of passengers travel through this train every day. I agreed to travel on this train for the first time a few days ago. As soon as I entered the station, I felt like I was back in the Beijing subway. Same station, same trains and same system.

The station was clean. Everywhere the staff was patiently helping the passengers. I bought a token from the counter and went to the train. Very few people buy subway tickets in China. Most people pay with the help of the subway app on their phone. All they have to do is open the app and scan the QR code on the machine.

Last year, China introduced facial recognition and palm payment systems at subway stations in many of its major cities so that people don't even need to open the app. Despite being our neighbours, the Chinese are almost a century ahead of us. Playing the role of a good neighbor, he has made us an orange train under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

I scanned my token on the machine and headed towards the escalators. People stand to the right on subway escalators in Beijing. The space on the left side remains empty so that someone who wants to move forward can leave. Here people were standing on the right side of the stairs as well as on the left side. There were several screens on the train platform to help the passengers. They were being informed about the arrival time of the next train. People were looking at these screens repeatedly while waiting for the train. When the train came, I boarded one of its coaches. The front section of the train was reserved for women only, while women and children could travel along with men in the back section. There is no such customization in Beijing. However, it is common practice in Islamic countries.

The behavior of men in the Orange train was significantly better for women than in other public transports. Men used to look at the empty seats with women with approving eyes. On their permission, he would sit on the seat with a slight tilt. Metro train gives people a sense of safe travel. Passengers board the train after going through security and buying a ticket. If they do something wrong during the journey, they may have to face severe punishment.

A lady was sitting next to me. He started telling me about traveling on the train himself as I was new to the train. I just smiled and looked at them. From her instructions I could tell that she traveled daily on the train and was quite satisfied with it. If a new concept is introduced in any society that can improve people's lives, people soon adopt it.

Right now the Orange train is running on only one route. If more such trains are made, which go to every part of the city, then Lahore will be counted among the best cities in the world. If such a system is introduced in every major city of Pakistan like Lahore, there can be a cultural revolution in Pakistan. People will develop patience by traveling together. They will accept each other's presence. If women have the opportunity to travel safely, they will be able to leave their homes easily. This will improve the economy of the country. Also, people will learn to be punctual. Their movement will be according to the timings of the trains. Discipline will also develop in them. They will learn to respect each other.
